Correlation of the Clock Drawing Test with Mini-Mental State Examination-Korea in the Elderly and Demented Elderly

Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out correlation of the clock drawing test with Mini-Mental State Examination in the elderly and demented elderly.
Methods: Normal elderly and demented elderly aged 65 and over were administered with the MMSE-K and clock drawing test. Rouleau, such as clock drawing test scoring system was used for 10 points. Analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, independent T Test, Pearson correlation analysis was performed.
Results: MMSE-K and clock drawing scores from the two groups were statistically significant differences. Correlation between MMSE-K and clock drawing test in each group were statistically significant.
Conclusion: clock drawing test can be an effective and simple cognitive tool for the elderly patients.
